Executive Director
Temple B'nai Shalom
Fairfax Station, VA
Temple B’nai Shalom (TBS) is a Union of Reform Judaism (URJ) affiliated congregation in Fairfax Station, Virginia, approximately 20 miles south of Washington, D.C. TBS provides a Jewish home for 350 member units, including 150 students enrolled in the Religious and Hebrew School program. We provide our congregants with experiences that enrich their lives: meaningful worship in a safe and comfortable temple building, great religious education for our youth, rabbinic and lay-lead thought-provoking study for adults, connections and friendships through social programs, outstanding clergy and staff, and so much more. Most importantly, we experience these as a community with a set of shared values and a commitment to Reform Judaism.
Since our beginnings, TBS has continued to grow and flourish. Now, in our double-chai, 36th year, we are a volunteer-driven, close-knit community, nurturing long term member relationships and fostering new ones with our younger generations. Our Board includes members who have grown up at TBS and now have families of their own. Our students leave for college noting that the one thing they’ll miss above everything else is their TBS community and we have over seven members who have carried their love of Judaism, Torah, and community onto rabbinical school and now have Reform congregations of their own.
Our community is an inclusive, caring one with many interfaith families, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and differently abled. Our care extends outside the temple walls as we help those in need in our local area, nationally, and beyond. We live our mission, “To care for one another and the world around us.”
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for overall management of the temple’s administrative and financial affairs with a focus on day-to-day operations, oversight of the building and grounds, clergy support, programming, and member services.
