Job Description

The role of Executive Director at Temple Ohev Sholom involves managing the administrative and financial operations of the synagogue while providing leadership, strategic planning, and support to the Rabbi, staff, board of trustees, volunteers, and members. The Executive Director will oversee the daily operations of the synagogue, including managing the budget, fundraising, membership, human resources, facilities and communications. The successful candidate will have a background in nonprofit management, preferably in a Jewish organization, with experience in finance, fundraising, and strategic planning. They will also be an effective communicator and team player who can work collaboratively with staff, board members, congregants, volunteers, and community members. Other essential qualities include strong leadership skills, a commitment to Jewish values and culture, and the ability to inspire and engage the congregation through traditional and digital channels. The Executive Director should have a bachelor's degree in a related field and/or several years of relevant work experience, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the administrative functions of the temple, including financial management, facility management, volunteers, and personnel management.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure the efficient and effective operation of the temple.
  • Work with the Rabbi and other staff members to plan and execute programs and events that align with the temple's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the temple's financial sustainability.
  • Cultivate relationships with congregants, community members, and other stakeholders to promote the temple's values and increase engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in non-profit management or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Experience in fundraising and development.
  • Knowledge of Jewish tradition and customs preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills. We use Google Workspace, and ShulCloud, experience in either, both or similar technology products is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
