Changing Membership Models

Changing Membership Models

Thursday, April 11, 2024 (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

About the Session:

Recognizing that membership connectivity patterns continue to change and evolve across generations, congregations continue to rethink and implement new alternative dues models. Frequently the models work well, while in other cases, they exacerbate financial challenges. During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the most crucial strategies needed to successfully implement a new alternative dues model. In addition, session participants will also learn about several of the more successful models, and what was done to ensure their effective implementation.

About our Speaker:

Louis Feldstein, Founder & CEO

Lou is someone you'll find yourself reaching out to for advice. His welcoming and poised persona creates an atmosphere that helps you challenge others to do their best and to articulate the reasons behind their choices. Lou has a great sense of humor and appreciates that work can and should be fun. He also has the knowledge and skills required to successfully bring change to organizations.

Lou has three decades of experience in operations management; he has worked to improve and enhance organizations, helping them effectively and efficiently serve and impact clientele. Throughout his career, he has run and partnered with non-profit, faith-based, and for-profit organizations. He has learned how to navigate the challenges that inevitably arise while working with limited resources and in an environment with professional and volunteer leadership. Because he truly understands where his clients are coming from, he can make real impact toward strengthening your organization.

He is innovative and uses his creative thinking to solve complex problems. Lou understands people and works with them to reduce tensions, increase motivation, and create strong partnerships. He finds fulfillment in the lives he touches and the communities he impacts through his work.

As Lou puts it, he likes to "fix what’s broken and make great what was good." Since launching Dynamic Change Solutions six years ago, Lou has helped more than 150 organizations implement successful change to increase their effectiveness and impact. He identifies issues, creates strategies, and works to achieve long-term goals. Lou is also a moving speaker and has given inspiring talks across North America.

He has steered organizations through transitions, recessions, and restructuring. Prior to launching Dynamic Change Solutions, Lou served as the Chief Operating Officer for JFGA, a metropolitan Atlanta-based organization that distributes over $30 million annually. There, he created and directed new fundraising, marketing and fund-distribution strategies which boosted annual and planned giving.

Additionally, he served as Southeast and South Florida Regional Director and the Associate Vice President for Research and Development at UJC, an international development organization that raises over $2 billion a year. Lou spent 15 years as CEO of several campus and young-adult outreach organizations, providing nationally-recognized, award-winning programs.

Lou is a certified DiSC®, Myers Briggs ® and Change Style Indicator® facilitator. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia Theological Seminary and a guest lecturer at Emory University. A native of San Francisco, Lou was awarded his Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa degree in 2012 from the Hebrew Union College for 25 years of service to the non-profit sector.
