Am Kolel, a Jewish Renewal community in the D.C. area, is seeking a Business, General Manager or Administrator with a progressive Jewish background to manage its organization and administrative needs.
Am Kolel, founded in 199O as an inclusive Jewish community to meet the unmet needs of Jews and loved ones in the DC area and to respond to social issues with a progressive voice.
We sponsor a Shabbat Havurah (fellowship community) and a Judaic Resource Center. We are known for our spiritual openness, community-wide programs, and our engagement in Tikkun Olam (social action and eco justice) and building bridges with others in the non Jewish community. Am Kolel incubates new Jewish communities and other organization that serve the wider community. We launched Jews United for Justice, the Senior Center of Western Montgomery County, the Visitors Project for people with dementia, the Gene Lippmann Acre Plus and Sanctuary Retreat Center.
Duties:
- Overall responsibility for office management
- Provide oversight to ensure all office systems are operating efficiently
- Working with our virtual accounting firm
- Support administrative assistant in data management
- Support the director/rabbi and program committees with tasks such as reserving space, ordering supplies, set up and break down
- Oversee general office and building upkeep, ensuring all spaces are well maintained. This includes our Rockville Center and the retreat center.
- Work with Director and Admin to determine space usage and needs
- Work with the director and Board reviewing existing policies and development of new policies concerning the functioning and safety of the community.
- Coordinate vendors, including custodial and maintenance
- Flexibility with other duties as needed.
Requirements: - Three years related experience
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Knowledge of essential computer software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with QuickBooks.
- Comfortable with use of social media
- Willingness to take initiative with tasks.
- Jewish education
- Openness to addressing challenging work situations
This position is 30-40 hours per week and includes benefits and the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.
The salary range is $50,000 - $70,000.
A benefits package includes a contribution to health insurance, life insurance, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.
Also, subsidies for professional conferences.
Must reside in the DC area.
